WordPress: How to Add Custom Woocommerce Product Tabs

Step by Step solutions on how to add custom product tabs for woocommerce in wordpress.

With WordPress you get a powerful ecommerce solution in Woocommerce. It even has some default tabs for products created. However by default you are never able to add custom tabs onto those already provided. To do that you need third party solutions or plugins.

Luckily for us this is easy if you use the solutions that we provide. In fact all you need is install the plugins we will list and you will find options to create custom tabs in your product editor pages.

(a). Use Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce

Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce is a wordpress plugin that allows you to add custom tabs with content to products in WooCommerce.

The tabs are displayed on the individual product pages to the right of the default “Description” tab.

Individual product tabs are managed on the WooCommerce Edit Product screen and can be added on a per product basis. You can also create saved tabs and add them to multiple products as needed. Tabs can be easily added, deleted and rearranged.

Tab content areas use the standard WordPress text editor and may contain text, images, HTML or shortcodes.

Step 1: Install it

To use it first install it from here or from dashboard of your site, then activate it.

Step 2: Use it

Now proceed over to the product editing page and you will be able to create tabs. Check the image below:

(b). Use WooCommerce Product Tabs

Through this plugin you can add as many custom tabs as you need to the WooCommerce product. It adds the standard WordPress WYSIWYG editor for each new tab you create. Additionally, it also supports shortcodes, images, HTML and embedded codes on the tab content.

You can assign a newly added custom tab as a default tab to all products or use it for a specific product only. WooCommerce Product Tabs plugin allows you to change the order of all tabs you have added.

Step 1: Install it

Install the plugin by searching for it in the wordpress Add New Plugin page then activate it. Or you can download it from here.

Step 2: Use it

How can I add a new tab? Find the Product Tabs under WooCommerce menu on the left panel of a WordPress dashboard. Click on Add New and create a new tab. Check the below image:

This plugin extends WooCommerce to allow a custom product tab to be added to single product pages with arbitrary content. The new custom tab may contain text, html (such as embedded videos), or shortcodes, and will appear between the “Additional Information” and “Reviews” tabs.

It requires WooCommerce 3.0.9 or newer.

Edit a product, then click on Custom Tab within the Product Data panel

(d). Use Product Tabs for WooCommerce

With this plugin, you can not only add custom product tabs but also customize the standard product tabs. In fact you can even create global tabs, these tabs that you can use with all the products, not just one.

Standard WooCommerce Product Tabs

For standard WooCommerce product tabs (i.e. “Description”, “Additional information” and “Reviews”) you can:

  • Remove tab completely for all products.
  • Change tab’s position.
  • Change tab’s title.

Custom Product Tabs

For each custom product tab you can set:

  • Tab’s title.
  • Tab’s ID (i.e. link).
  • Tab’s position.
  • Tab’s content.

For each global (i.e. all products) product tab you can also set products/categories to show/hide it for.

Step 1: Install it

Install it from the wordpress repository from within your site's dashboard or download it from here.

Then activate.

Step 2: Use it

Now go to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Tabs to add tabs. For example here is the settings page:
