WordPress Developers are trying to take WordPress as a framework to the next level. As a result alot of features are being churned out, some of which alot of publishers just don't find intuitive and flexible or that create compatibility issues. Two such features are the block post and page editor as well as the block widgets which is a more recent release of WordPress 5.8.

This tutorial shows you how to disable these block editors and restore the classic ones in wordpress using a variety of plugins.

(a). Use Classic Editor

This will help you restore the classic editor.

Classic Editor is an official plugin maintained by the WordPress team that restores the previous (“classic”) WordPress editor and the “Edit Post” screen.

It makes it possible to use plugins that extend that screen, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor.

It includes several filters that let other plugins control the settings, and the editor choice per post and per post type. Furthermore it disables all functionality available in the new block editor (“Gutenberg”).

Step 1: Install it

Go to Plugins > Add New, search for this plugin. Then click install. Then activate it. You can also download it manually from here.

Step 2: Use it

Once activated, head over to the page/post editing page and start writing your post in classic fashion.
